Breaking Ground: The Hogg’s Hollow Disaster 1960 to be installed in the York Mills Subway Station, Toronto. This work, completed in 2000, will be installed at the York Mills Subway station. It's the first fabric work to be acquired by the TTC since "Barren Ground Caribou", a quilted work by Joyce Weiland depicting a group of caribou on the tundra, in 1972.

Laurie Swim: The Quilt as Art at the Rossignol Cultural Centre in Liverpool, Nova Scotia.
This solo show, a retrospective of the work Laurie’s done since moving back home to Nova Scotia in 2004 past 4 years, will contain many of the works in her recent book, Rags to Riches: The Quilt as Art.

Featured Artist, solo show at Arts on Queen, 2198 Queen Street East, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

June 4, 5, 6

Featured Artist at River Head annual quilt show in Long Island, NY. She will be exhibiting her work and presenting 2 lectures at the show. She will also be teaching a workshop at the Eastern Long island Quilters Guild.

April 20th - 21st

Laurie will be the guest presenter and teaching two workshops for the York Heritage Quilters Guild in Toronto, Ontario.

May

Laurie will be teaching a workshop at the Cape Breton Craft Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia.


Laurie Schedule 2010

Laurie is building a significant body of work, a new series, Land, Sea and Memory, that she hopes to tour in galleries throughout North America. This exhibit will commence at the Mary E Black in Halifax, Nova Scotia in August 2010 and end at the del Mano in Los Angeles in Fall 2010 or Spring 2011.
